#PublicHealthNotProfit

By APRN | April 15, 2020

The Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN) stands in solidarity with the Global Day of Solidarity for Public Health Not Private Profit.

The network reaffirms its commitment to raising the people’s call for public health that is accessible to all during this global pandemic. APRN asserts that governments should uphold the democratic rights of the people and not resort to militaristic approaches in addressing this global health issue and instead prioritize providing social protection and livelihood for workers, farmers, and other marginalized sectors.

We strengthen our call for states to prioritize people over profit and urgently address the people’s growing demands to break free from the neoliberal model of development. The crisis of COVID-19 is a glaring proof that nations should abandon the “business-as-usual” paradigm and create radical structural change that will genuinely benefit the people.
