[DID YOU KNOW] Mapithel Dam

By APRN | August 07, 2020

The Mapithel Dam choked the Thoubal River ruining the environment, livelihood and culture of Indigenous Peoples living in the Mapithel Valley. For residents of submerged villages, Mapithel is the symbol of injustice. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) worked in financing its infrastructure and privatizing its water supply.

Asia Pacific Research Network (APRN), together with the International Indigenous People’s Movement for Self-Determination and Liberation (IPMSDL), Asia Pacific Network of Environment Defenders (APNED) and the People’s Coalition on Food Sovereignty (PCFS), is inviting you to the webinar “Breaking the Barriers: A Webinar on the Impacts of Large-Scale Dams in Asia” on August 11, 2020 at 2:00 PM (GMT +8) via Zoom.
